Our Process

Introduce & Identify

We start with a quick chat to get a full picture of your needs, goals, and aspirations to determine if you’d benefit more from our traditional research + design process or a brisker sprint format.

Propose

After understanding your needs, we provide a budget and detailed project plan with process scope, deliverables, and associated timelines for your review. Upon the approval of the proposal, we finalize the contract, scope of work, and initial deposit, typically 35% of the overall project fee, and then we get to work.

Discover & Research

Research is key to our design process at Public Knowledge. It helps ensure our products meet client and audience needs. The work we do at this stage lays the foundation for the project. At this stage, we focus on competitive market research, generative user research, audits, visual and functional benchmarking, as needed.

Design

In the traditional design process, we will present you with up to three visual directions. In the sprint format, we will quickly develop a single visual system direction. Based on your feedback, we’ll revise and refine the direction, scaling it to match the required deliverables. The process of designing and optimizing the information architecture will run parallel to the initial visual design phase.

Handover & Support

We finalize the deliverables and off-boarding guide. For ongoing support, we offer flexible retainer services with competitive rates and plans.
