About Public Knowledge
Public Knowledge Studio is a small design studio based in New Delhi. We primarily work with startups to design brands, landing pages, digital products and experiences. Our work often involves new technologies, and we actively explore new ways of designing and producing digital artefacts — with AI and otherwise. We value thoughtful work, curiosity about new tools and technologies, and learning by doing. Our studio is small by design, and everyone on the team has meaningful influence over the work we do and how the studio evolves.
Location
This position is work from office in our studio in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. Remote or hybrid negotiable for the right candidate.
The Role
This role is for a designer who thinks in systems and sweats the details of type, colour, and form. As a brand designer at Public Knowledge, you'll help early-stage startups find a visual voice — building identities from the first mark through to the guidelines that keep them consistent. We work fast and across disciplines, so you'll often see a brand through from concept to the moment it goes live on a website, a deck, or a launch. You'll work directly with founders, translating fuzzy early visions into identities that feel inevitable. If you love the craft of branding — and want real ownership over identities shipping into the world — this is for you.
What you'll do
- Design visual identities and brand systems for early-stage startups — marks, type, colour, and the rules that hold them together
- Build brand guidelines that are practical, not just pretty
- Extend identities across touchpoints: websites, pitch decks, social, and product
- Use motion and lightweight animation to bring brands to life
- Work closely with founders to shape positioning and visual language together
- Explore type, AI tools, and generative approaches to push identities somewhere distinctive
What We're Looking For
- 2–4 years of experience in branding or visual identity design
- A portfolio of identity work that demonstrates strong type and systems thinking
- A point of view on craft — you care how a letterform is drawn and how a system holds up at scale
- Comfort using code or AI tools as part of your process — not as a full-time developer, but enough to be dangerous
- Clear communication and the ability to drive work independently
Signals We Look For in Portfolios
- Complete identity systems, not just logos
- Evidence of reasoning — why the brand looks the way it does
- Typographic craft and attention to detail
- Brands seen "in the wild", applied across real touchpoints
- Experiments with motion, AI, or generative tooling
- Personal projects and self-initiated explorations
Perks
- Office lunch
- Access to any AI tool you want to use
- Yearly team offsite (last one was in Bangkok!)
How to Apply
- Send your portfolio to careers@publicknowledge.co
- Include an identity you're proud of — and a line on the thinking behind it
- What's a brand (yours or someone else's) you wish you'd designed?
